Rauw Alejandro
Raul Alejandro OcasioRuiz (born 10 January 1993) who is also known professionally as Rauw Alejandro is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter. He is referred to as "the King of Modern Reggaeton"[2][3] and belongs to "the new generation of Puerto Rican urban artists. His debut album, Afrodisiaco, was released in the month of November in 2020. Vice Versa, his second studio album came out in June of 2021. It featured the title track "Todo de Ti". He has received two Latin Grammy Awards from twelve nominations. Raul Alejandro Ruiz the Latin Grammy Award winner was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on January 10, 1993. He also grew up in Canovanas as well as Carolina. [4][5] His father guitarist Raul Ocasio, and his mother, backing vocalist Maria Nelly Ruiz, introduced him to some of his musical idols like Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, and Chris Brown. In the past, for a long time, Alejandro and his father lived in the continental United States, mainly Miami and New York City, where his inspiration came from the R&B and dancehall genres. 7] 8 Alejandro and fellow Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA are childhood buddies; they both went to the same high school and shared classes together. In the early years of their lives, Alejandro competed in school talent shows because he has an interest in dancing. [11] After graduating high school, he enrolled at University of Puerto Rico. He played soccer between six to twenty. He eventually resigned after stating that he couldn't perform as he was expected to. Then he moved to Orlando to try and be scouted by the Premier Development League (PDL). Rauw Alejandro's music style includes Latin R&B, reggaeton, dancehall, and rhythmic pop. Billboard claimed that his music has "set his music apart" from the growing group of Reggaetones who are influenced by pop. Presley as well as Jackson were influential early on. He was also later influenced by Ricky Martin and Daddy Yankee. He also mentions Ciara as a musician who influenced him.
